Welcome Back

July 13, 2022

Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s):

We are excited to welcome new and returning students to the Buckeye Union High School District Learning Center as classes begin on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.  Please read this informational letter in its entirety and let us know if you have any questions.

As a returning Alternative Education Program student, we will send your 2022-2023 registration packet home with your student no later than Friday, August 5th.  These documents are required from all students in the district, so your prompt attention to complete the forms and return them will be greatly appreciated.  Please return the completed packet in the original envelope no later than Wednesday, August 8, 2022.

We will continue our daily schedule where students arrive on campus for breakfast around 7:00 a.m. with class starting at 7:15 a.m. and dismissing at 1:45 p.m.  The Wednesday schedule will run from 9:00 a.m. – 1:45 p.m.  You will be contacted by the district’s transportation department prior to school starting with the bus pick-up/drop-off location and time.   If your student is a driver, a Parking Pass packet is required to be completed along with a $20.00 parking fee for the school year.  Packets can be picked up in the front office.

Students’ class schedules for the 2022-23 school year will be available to students when they arrive on campus August 3rd.  Each student will be enrolled in courses equaling two (2) credits.  The focus will mainly be on core content classes this first 9-week period.  Elective offerings will be distributed for selection and assigned during the second 9-week block.

One big change this year will be with lunches.  For the past two years, breakfasts and lunches have been provided free of charge.  This year, all students will need to pay full price for their lunches, unless they qualify for free or reduced.  If you completed an application for the 2021-2022 school year and your circumstances have not changed, free and reduced lunch eligibility will continue for the first 30 days of the school year.  If you did not complete an application for the 2021-2022 school year, please  go to Departments from the district’s webpage (www.buhsd.org) and click on Food Service – Chartwells, and complete it online, or you may pick up a paper copy from the office. Please note that the online portal to complete the application will not be available until 7/18/2022.

If your student has not turned in his/her laptop for re-imaging this summer, this must occur prior to school starting.  You are welcome to bring it to the BUHSD Learning Center Monday – Thursday between 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

All students will need to bring earbuds/earphones on a daily basis – beginning with the first day of class.  Without them, student coursework production may be suspended.  Students are welcome to use their own or we will have them available to purchase for $10.00.  Please note that wireless earbuds/headphones are not permitted.  In addition, smart watches are not allowed to be worn on campus during school hours. Students should also bring paper/pencil or pen the first (and subsequent) days, as well as cash/check for required fees listed below.

If you want to request to change enrollment to full-time online status through LcOnline, please note that if you are on an Academic or Discipline referral to the BUHSD Learning Center’s Alternative Education Program, enrolling in LcOnline may impact your opportunity to register at your home campus at a future date.
